Im Osten geht die Sonne auf…oder kommt der Regen runter?

In München wird das 200. Jubiläum des Oktoberfests gefeiert, während wir uns auf den Weg gen Osten machen.  Auf zu neuen Gefilden, nachdem unser Reiseschwerpunkt bisher auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent lag, ist es an der Zeit neues zu entdecken und unsere Sammlung an „Länderpunkten“ zu erweitern.

Über Salzburg – Wien ist schnell die ungarische Grenze erreicht. Unsere Nachbarn sind nicht zimperlich mit Mautgebühren und so erinnert einen die GO-Box mit regelmässigen Piep-Tönen an ein schwindendes Guthaben.

Erste Nacht am Neusiedler See

Nach gut 1000km ist die rumänische Grenze passiert. Auch hier wird inzwischen eine Vignette – die Rovignieta – verlangt. Für unseren Kurzen heißt das gut 90 Euro für einen Monat. Wir sind sehr verwundert über die hohen Preise, aber bei 8,5 to ist das wohl so.

Die erste Nacht verbringen wir in der Obhut einer religiösen Gemeinschaft mitten im Wald auf einer schönen Lichtung. In der Früh werden wir auf einen Kaffee und einen Apfelkuchen eingeladen. Schon jetzt erfahren wir die herzlich gelebte Gastfreundschaft der Rumänen.

Bereits vor der Reise haben wir über Wochen Geld- und Sachspenden für zwei rumänische Kinderheime gesammelt. Eines befindet sich unweit von Timisoara, welches durch die Organisation „Hilfe für Kinder“ unterstützt wird. Zusammen mit der Ansprechpartnerin besuchen wir das Heim, welches z.Zt. 94 Kinder mit leichter bis mittlerer körperlicher und geistiger Behinderung beherbergt. Wir sind gespannt und fahren mit gemischten Gefühlen in den Ort. Was wird uns erwarten? Wie sind die Zustände vor Ort? Wie werden wir das evtl. Leid der Kinder aufnehmen?
Der Heimleiter begrüßt uns herzlich. Sofort springt Sympathie auf uns über. Wir bekommen eine Führung durch die Räumlichkeiten und eine Erläuterung der Einrichtung. Das Konzept gefällt uns gut. Wir sind froh und glücklich hier mit den Spenden unterstützen zu können.  Unser Hund Pauli wirkt bei den Kindern wie ein Magnet und kann sich vor Streicheleinheiten kaum retten. Stolz führen sie ihn an der Leine durch den Hof.

Mit dem Gefühl an der richtigen Stelle etwas Gutes getan zu haben ziehen wir weiter. Die Straßen in Richtung Bukarest sind in einem völlig desolaten Zustand und so langsam verstehe ich den hohen Preis, den wir für die Rovignieta bezahlen mussten. Später sollen wir von Rumänen erfahren, dass die Einnahmen leider nicht in den Straßenbau, bzw. deren Erneuerung fließen.
Das Land hat noch so gut wie keine Autobahnen (außer ein paar kurzen Stücken rund um Bukarest und Constanta) und so rollt eine Lawine an Ost-West Schwerverkehr über einspurige Landstraßen. Der Teer ist durch die Sommerhitze tief eingefahren. Die Teerwülste erreichen stellenweise Gehsteighöhe. Wehe dem, der da mal aus Versehen aus der Spur hüpft, dann versetzt es den LKW mit einem großen Satz und das Lenkrad wird einem aus der Hand gerissen. Zudem gleicht die Fahrbahn einer aufgeplatzten trocknen Lehmerde nach Regenfällen.  Tiefe Löcher, Risse und alte Flicken sind eine Strapaze für uns und unser Blattfederfahrwerk. Das Vorankommen mit all dem Verkehr ist mühsam. An einem 20km langen Teilstück werden wir alle 1000m durch eine Baustellenampel an Spurverengungen gestoppt. So weichen wir auf die kleineren Straßen aus. Hier wird zwar weniger gebaut, aber der Verkehr und die Fahrbahnqualität sind dieselben.
Dafür ist es einfacher in kleine Dörfer abzubiegen und schöne Übernachtungsplätze fernab des Verkehrs zu finden. Und wieder ist es die offene, gastfreundliche und dennoch zurückhaltende Art der Rumänen, die uns begeistert. Wir verbringen zwei Tage hinter einem Dorf an einem Waldrand. Jeden Tag hat uns ein anderer Dorfbewohner mit Gemüse und Obst aus deren Gärten versorgt.

Umzingelt von einem Wanderteppich

Wie die Nomaden ziehen wir weiter und holpern über die rumänischen Folterstrecken. In den Ortschaften wird mit großer Mehrheit brav 50 gefahren, wissend dass die Streifenwagen mit Laserpistolen bewaffnet dem Steuerzahlen auflauern. Umgehungsstraßen findet man hierzulande so gut wie keine und so rollt der Koloss immer durch die Ortsschaften und auch kleinsten Dörfer. Diese weisen eine für uns ungewohnte Struktur auf: Es gibt oft nur eine Häuserreihe beidseits der Hauptstraße. Dahinter folgen Felder und Wiesen. So sind die Ortschaften oft mehrere Kilometer lang, aber nur wenige Meter breit.

Die große Stadt Brasov hat selbst und auch deren Umgebung einiges zu bieten. Wenige Kilometer südlich findet sich die Törzburg von Bran, welche angeblich ein Sinnbild für alle Dracula-Schlösser sein soll. So wird  jenes Genre hier auch kräftig vermarktet und bluttropfen zieren so manches Schild und Souvenir.

Brasov selbst lohnt einen Stadtbummel. Mit schönen historischen Gebäuden und einer lebendigen Fussgängerzone kann man hier gemütlich flanieren, shoppen und in einem der zahlreichen Cafés den Straßenmusikern zuhören.

Roman im Nordosten des Landes sollte unser nächstes Ziel sein. Im dichten Nebel und Regen überqueren wir die Ostkarpaten. Das Wetter wird schlechter und das grau in grau verspricht nichts Gutes. Die Wolken werden sich hoffentlich nicht einnisten.
In Roman befindet sich die zweite soziale Einrichtung für Kinder, die wir besuchen wollen. Es ist im Gegensatz zum Kinderheim von Recas eine katholische Sozialstation, welche Kindern eine schulische und Ansätze einer Berufsausbildung gibt und zusätzlich hilfsbedürftigen Familien mit Kleidungs- und Nahrungsmitteln unter die Arme greift.
Leider sind noch Ferien und keine Kinder anwesend. Trotzdem bekommen wir eine Führung durch die Einrichtung. Die Verständigung fällt uns diesmal deutlich schwerer. Auf italienisch und rumänisch prasseln die Worte auf uns nieder. Wir können uns deren Bedeutung ungefähr zusammenpuzzeln. Hier geben wir die zweite Hälfte unserer Spenden ab. Primär Stoffe und Nähmaschinen, welche zur Einrichtung einer Nähstube dienen werden.

Schon zu Hause haben wir uns auf ein traumhaft beschriebenes Plätzchen in der Umgebung von Roman gefreut. Drei Seen mit einem angeschlossenen einfachen Campingbereich und einem Restaurant, welches die selbst gefangenen Fische am Abend für einen zubereitet. Ich sah mich schon am See sitzen mit der Angel in der Hand. Dort angekommen wurde unsere Seifenblase durch den Stich der Realität zum Platzen gebracht.
Ein etwas runtergekommenes Restaurant direkt an einer vierspurigen Überlandverbindung mit hohem LKW aufkommen. Der Campingbereich bestand nur aus ein paar kleinen Holzhütten ohne Möglichkeit auch nur einen PKW auf das Gelände bringen zu können. Ein Irrtum, dem man in Rumänien öfter aufsitzen kann. Camping heißt dort meistens eine günstige Übernachtungsmöglichkeit in eng aneinander gebauten Holzhütten. Enttäuscht ziehen wir weiter und die Übernachtungsplatzsuche hat sich noch lange hingezogen, ist der Nordosten doch sehr dicht besiedelt.

Immer wieder Regen, Regen und ein grau in grau. Wir wollen schnell nach Süden ins Donaudelta in der Hoffnung auf besseres Wetter. Den ganzen Tag fahren wir und kommen wieder bei Regen im Delta an.
In der Orstdurchfahrt von Murighiol werden wir „angehalten“. Wir kommen mit zwei Männern ins Gespräch, wobei sich herausstellt, dass sie Bootstouren ins Delta anbieten. Aha, daher weht der Wind. Ein „Gästebuch“ mit zahlreichen und durchaus glaubwürdigen Kommentaren stimmt uns positiv und so machen die längste der drei angebotenen Touren mit Captain Cornel und seinem Spezl Ovidiu. Ein Tag mit dem Motorboot durch das Delta, vorbei an Seen, durch enge Flussläufe, kurze Ausflüge an Land zu historischen Dörfern und zum Höhepunkt ein echt rumänisches Fischessen mit Wein und viel Schnaps und unser Hund Pauli darf auch mit. Na holla, das wird was!
Um 8 Uhr am nächsten Tag werden wir abgeholt. Das Boot aus Florida macht einen soliden und guten Eindruck. Trotz der kühlen Temperaturen und des sehr frischen Fahrtwindes ist es herrlich. Wir passieren einige Fischer auf ihren Booten, welche sich allesamt als Brüder, Onkels und Cousins unseres Captains herausstellen, dichte Schilfgürtel, Kolonien von Kormoranen, Möwen, Schwänen und selbst einen einzelnen, verloren gegangen wirkenden, Pelikan sehen wir.
Gut, wo Licht, da ist auch Schatten: Das angepriesene historische Dorf stellte sich als wenig sehenswert dar. Aber das kurz darauffolgende Fischessen machte den kleinen Schönheitsfehler dieser Tour wieder mehr als wett. Trotz des Charmes einer Post-Schalterhalle war das mehrstündige Essen wunderbar. Die stämmige Köchin hat immer wieder andere Platten mit Fisch aufgetischt. Ein jedes Gericht besonders und alle ausgezeichnet. Dazwischen immer wieder Wein und Schnaps, beides aus Krügen! Nach 7 Runden Schnaps haben wir die weiße Flagge gehisst, obwohl er sehr gut geschmeckt hat. Unsere beiden Führer haben dann die Reste selbst vertilgt.

Mit deutlichen Spuren unseres Einkehrschwunges haben dann Andrea und ich abwechselnd die Capitainsmütze aufgesetzt bekommen, um die beiden Führer nach Hause zu schippern. Ihrer Aufgabe als Guide kamen sie immer noch nach, mit deutlichen Handzeichen, die ein Abbiegen in einige der vielen Kanäle signalisieren sollten. Ein schöner, lustiger und sonniger Tag, der uns in Erinnerung bleiben wird.

Der Regen treibt uns vor sich her und wir fliehen nach Bulgarien. Doch auch hier hat er uns bereits eingeholt. Was tun? Durch Bulgarien und Serbien zurück in Richtung Heimat? Eine Sitzung bei Herrn Google hat uns empfohlen nach Griechenland zu fahren, dort sei es sonnig und warm. Und auch hier muss man lernen, dass sich ein Herr Google auch mal irren kann, wie sich später noch herausstellen soll.

Wir passieren Bulgarien und die Türkei im Eiltempo, aber nicht ohne jeweils  ein paar lokale Spezialitäten zu essen. So verbringen wir einen Abend in einer verrauchten bulgarischen Mehana, einer bäuerlichen Taverne, bei Sopska Salat, Kebapce und einem Glaserl Wein und Bier. Auf dem Weg durch die Türkei essen wir mittags einen Köfte-Burger, aus einem vor Grilldunst kaum durchdringbarem Strassenlokal. Mit dabei ist ein grüner Chili, der wohl direkt aus der Hölle kommen muss!

Begleitet von dem feuchten Nass aus den grauen Wolken reisen wir nach Griechenland ein. Der Grenzübergang beidseitig durch Militär schwer geschützt. Die Griechen und die Türken scheinen sich immer noch nicht ganz grün zu sein. Das Wetter ist ein Gräuel und so wundert es uns nicht, die einzigen Gäste der griechischen Taverna am Strand von Agyro zu sein. Die folgenden Tage war keine Besserung spürbar. Aber wir wollten ausharren und hatten täglich mit einer Besserung gerechnet. Stattdessen kam ein Sturm, der uns nächtens am Strand so durchgeschüttelt hat, dass wir unseren Kurzen umparken und in den Wind drehen mussten, um ruhig schlafen zu können.

Ok, gut, wir geben auf! 13 Tage Regen mit einem Tag Unterbrechung sind genug. Pauli lässt auch schon die Ohren hängen, muss er doch die meiste Zeit mit uns in unserem Shelter verbringen. Wir fahren auf direktem Weg nach Igoumenitsa und sollte dort das Wetter nicht besser sein, buchen wir uns auf das nächst beste Schiff nach Venedig und fahren nach Hause.

Und irgend jemand scheint unsere Drohung gehört zu haben .Kurz vor Igoumenitsa strahlt der Himmel, die Sonne brennt. Wir Verbringen die letzten drei Tage unserer Reise an einer schönen Bucht wenige Kilometer südlich vom Fährhafen und genießen jede Sekunde.

Leider kehrt der Regen nach drei Tagen wieder zurück. Wir buchen die Fähre um und fahren zwei Tage früher zurück. Wir sind nicht die einzigen mit dieser Idee und so ist das Campingdeck der Minoan Fähre gesteckt voll.

Alles in allem sind wir 4800 km in den dreieinhalb Wochen gefahren. Es wären wohl ein paar weniger geworden ohne die Flucht vor dem Regen. trotzdem wars schon. Das nächste Mal fahren wir zu einer früheren Jahreszeit.
